Majid Nili Ahmadabadi
was born in 1967 and received his B.S in Mechanical Engineering from
Sharif University of Technology of Iran in
1990. He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Information Sciences from the Graduate
School of Information Science,
Tohoku University,
Japan in 1994 and 1997 respectively. In 1997, he joined the Advanced Robotics Laboratory
at Tohoku University. Later he moved to the Department of Electrical and Computer
Engineering, Faculty of Engineering,
University of Tehran
where he is an associate professor and the head of
Robotics and AI Laboratory. He is also a senior researcher at
School of Cognitive Sciences, Institute for studies on Theoretical Physics
and Mathematics, Tehran, Iran.
He founded Iranain National Robot contest in 1998, which was very effective in promotion
of interest in robotics among university and jounior high school students.
Dr. Nili is one of advocators of using robotics for enhancing creativity of young
generation in Iran.
Dr. Nili has acted as the deputy of research affairs of ECE department, university
of Theran for a period of two years statred from Dec 2004. He is also member of
engineering committee of Iranian National Science Foundation. Along with doing basic
research in machine learning and robotics, he has been the principal investigator
of researchers that have results in five distict robotic technolgies.
Dr. Nili’s main
research interest are learning in
mulitagent systems, cognitive robotics, bilogically inspired learning methods, distributed
robotics, object manipulation, and mobile robots.
